In the heart of Paris, on Rue des Archives, Marie-Louise Orlach was the first to see a piece of jewelry in a clock hand. Since then, she has imagined and handcrafted each atelier creation with passion.
The Designer
Marie-Louise Orlach grew up immersed in her mother’s Cambodian heritage: a world of jewelry, gold, and color. It is from this heritage that she developed her eye.
A question has always lived within her: time — what it holds still, and what it carries away.
Ten years ago, one of the oldest watchmakers in Paris placed in her hands a rare collection of antique clock hands from the early 20th century. Her desire to create and her fascination with time had finally met. From these first clock hands, her first pieces of jewelry were born.
L’aiguille
We never truly look at a clock hand.
We follow it with our eyes to read the time, then we forget it. This is the object Marie-Louise chose.
She reproduces these clock hands, frees them from the dial they once obeyed, and transforms them into jewelry. The shape that once measured time no longer has anything to measure. Free at last, it reveals itself for what it is — and becomes something to be admired.
The subject
All our jewelry is made from brass — a natural choice, as clock hands themselves are traditionally made from this metal. Our pieces are lightweight, comfortable to wear, and carry within them the very material of their inspiration.
Over this brass, we apply 24-carat fine gold plating, the purest gold there is. This purity gives each piece its light and warmth. And because we use no nickel, only gold rests against your skin.
Gold plating is a living finish. Over time, it develops a patina and gradually loses some of its original shine. We believe in jewelry made to last, and in jewelry that can be cared for. That is why we offer to re-plate your jewelry*, giving it a second life.
